As with everyone we sat speechless watching the terrible destruction in northern Japan on March 11th. All of us here felt we needed to do something to help the people affected by the earthquakes in the Tohoku region. Fortunately, we’ve been able to team with some local artists to help raise donations.

We are happy to announce that we have teamed up with local artists and designers Andrew and Yumiko Conti of the Chaku Chaku Studio. The two designed a beautiful set of greeting cards.  Each of the 5 greeting cards features a symbolic object from traditional Japanese celebrations. This includes carp shaped kites for Boy’s Day and beautiful dolls for Girl’s Day.

We’ve printed the cards in a warm red ink on Mohawk Paper’s Antique Vellum ‘Snow’ paper with matching envelopes. The designers chose these colors to reflect the Japanese flag. The various objects affirm affection for Japanese culture as well as to introduce a few joys of Japan to an American audience.

Chaku Chaku Studio will be using these cards to gather donations. 100% of the purchase price will go towards relief and rebuilding efforts.

Donations

cutpasteandprint was able to make donations of both the paper and the printing for this project. We are excited to announce that, as of this writing, over $400.00 has been raised for disaster relief through sales of the cards. All of the raised funds were donated to the Japanese Red Cross.

Chaku Chaku Studio is continuing  to sell the card sets and more information is on their website here.

We encourage everyone to make a donation as they are willing and able.
