better print

Part of marketing your business should be to stand out. You want to create something that will stand out, be valued, and be engaged with. In print you aren’t limited to a screen or a one-size fits all device. You don’t have to settle for familiar forms and sizes. You can get better print, all you need is your imagination.

If you are designing printed materials than your goal should be to give your audience a better print experience. You have to think beyond just putting ink on a page and start thinking about the complete interaction you are creating. There are many possibilities to expand what a printed piece is, here are just a few.

Folds

When you create print marketing, one of your goals as a designer should be that your audience doesn’t want to take there hands off it. Adding a unique fold to a design can create just that effect. An unusual flap, pinwheel close, cross, or accordion fold can take the ordinary to extraordinary in an instant.

There are many types of unusual folds that can be relatively easy to implement. It’s worth it for designers to spend a little extra time to find one that will make a printed piece unforgettable.

Super Sizes

Take a look at your mail the next time it arrives at your home. How many of the items that arrive are the same size? How many of the letters or cards you receive could be confused for each other if you didn’t look at them closely?

This is a time when size can have a big impact. If your mailing is bigger and heavier than anything else arriving at your customer’s home then it will certainly stand out. Better print is about the materials you use and how they reach your customers.

And this doesn’t mean bigger is always better. Consider how an intentionally small item might create an outsize impact as a hand out.

Better Papers

Want better print? Use better papers. This is something we are very adamant about. Print isn’t just ink on a page, it is the page too. The object that your customers will hold in their hand and interact with says something about you and your business. The quality of the paper is the quality of the experience.

Weight, color, thickness, texture. These are the key components of the paper you use. Take your time, explore your options and find a paper that has the message you want.

This is just a sample of ideas to get you thinking. The options certainly don’t end here. At cutpasteandprint we always think its better for designers to come up with their ideas and let us find  way to fulfill them. So, perhaps that is a fourth idea. Always challenge your printer to do more!
